There are many different methods of hair removal; waxing, sugaring, shaving, threading, tweezing, depilatory creams, laser hair removal and electrolysis to name a few. When choosing which method is right for you, it comes down to whether you want a permanent or temporary solution. Other considerations include cost, side effects or aftercare, and lastly your skin type.
With temporary methods, they are known to reduce hair growth when done on a regular basis, as well as thin the future regrowth. They are generally less expensive treatments and can be done whenever it is necessary to have a hair free body. Large or smaller sections, such as brows, can be removed at once with precision. However, you may experience ingrown hairs from these methods along with a little or a lot of pain. The level of pain is dependent on your pain tolerance. If you tend to have sensitive skin, we recommend you tread lightly when it comes to waxing. If you find that you break out or get a lot of redness or bumps after waxing, sugaring may be a better option. Sugaring offers a more natural alternative that attaches more to the hair than the skin. Beyond skin sensitivity, you will want to consider how coarse your hair is. For thicker hair, we recommend waxing as it is a more effective hair removal treatment.
Depilatory creams can have a strong odor and irritate the skin. Irritation may also be a factor for shaving. Typically shaving causes the hair with grow back coarser and thicker.
Permanent methods of hair removal offer you hair free and Hollywood soft skin year round. There are a few things to consider when looking into permanent hair removal methods. These treatments can be mildly uncomfortable at the time of treatment and it may take a few treatments to get you to your desired result. Seasonal limitations may limit the availability of getting your permanent hair removal treatments. Some people prefer to keep laser treatments to the winter months as the laser can lighten your tanned summer skin. When considering permanent hair removal you really need to consider your skin type and ensure the right laser is being used for your skin type. When considering laser hair removal ensure that you have a consultation with the laser technician to discuss the laser or IPL that they are using to ensure that it will be effective. Please note that light grey or red hair cannot be lasered due to the melanin in the skin.
If you have darker skin or a lighter hair colour, we recommend considering electrolysis. Unlike laser hair removal, which targets pigment, electrolysis uses an electric current applied directly to the hair follicle to remove hair. This makes it an ideal service for clients who are not good candidates for laser hair removal.
