They say you can tell woman’s age by looking at the back of her hands – and there is a lot of truth in this. Our hands are exposed to everything we protect our face from, sun, cold weather, and wind. Or something else to think about, is how many
times a day do you wash your hands? Each time using whatever soap or detergent is at the sink, and likely stripping away vital moisture and protective oils. Eventually, our poor hands are showing our age before anything else!
Of course, the best remedy is protection. You use sunscreen on your face now don’t you, so why not use it on your hands too? They’re often even more exposed to the damage from UV rays than your face is. So lather up when you lather your face with a good quality broad spectrum protection.
If your hands are already starting you give your secrets away, all is not lost. Simply start repeating the steps you do to take care of your face, on your hands. Use a dab of your facial products for your hands. Are you using a nice cleanser with an AHA (like glycolic) before you go to bed? Cleanse the backs of your hands with it! You’ll feel the difference immediately. Spritz on a toner. Apply a tiny drop of serum; a dab of moisturizer. During the day, use that sunscreen on your hands too!
While you are taking care of your hands, don’t forget the neck, and the decollete (the upper chest). Those areas also show signs of ageing faster than the face and they need the same TLC as you show your face does.
